I'm new to the making money off the web stuff and so I set up a site to see what would happen.

I am currently using adsense and I've tried different positions for the ads and my CTR just stinks (less than 2%).

Can anyone give me advice? My site is a spoof video site. Should I try out some other type of network for the ads or is it a placement layout issue?

My site is www dot spoofd dot com

Thanks!

Although I haven't run any myself, I've been told that video/entertainment sites have a low CTR. I'll have a look at your site in about an hour once i get home.

Thanks kriscad for linkifying that, I hate having to type stuff in

ginty, when I went to your site, I couldn't even see your ads at first.

My advice: don't put any ads above the videos, put it below the comments invitation, with a nice wad of whitespace to let the ad standout.

Drop the ad above the second video - it's below the fold, some of your visitors won't even see it. Replace it with one in the sidebar, below the calendar.

Finally, shove some whitespace between your menu and the first ad, at the moment it blends in with the menu. Apart from ruining the design aesthetics it also means that advert is totally lost.

If you do that, then the ads will be much more noticable.
For a quick fix, change the ad colours so they don't struggle with the design for dominance.

Ok I have made a few of the changes. I haven't put in the sidebar ads again yet. I'll get to that and see what happens. Any other thoughts?

That's a lot better in my opinion, the ads stood out more for me, and the design just looks less cluttered.

Nice job

Yeah nice arrangement of ads but the thing is who will click your ads while watching videos, hope people do All the Best.

Entertainment sites are much harder to get a good CTR rate than most other types of sites. I have also found this out myself. 2% CTR is rather good I think compared to mine. Mine is shocking compared to yours. The thing is, I also don't want the ads to be in my users faces as I want them to really get to know what the site offers and then click on an ad if they want to and not to just go to the site, click an ad and then leave without remembering what the site was about or what the url of the site was.
