So I am creating a website that is a guide to bittorrent. I plan to advertise it via forums and digg. Now I am having a little bit of trouble trying to figure out how I would generate some revenue. I was planning on using AdSense like I did here Ibanez Guitars but I don't know if theres anything better I can do ...

Any advice you can give me would be great unk:

I think it'd be a lot easier to give suggestions if we could actually see the site. You got some pretty good blending on the guitar sites, why not do the same?

Honestly, people who are on a Bittorrent page aren't looking to buy products, that's why contextual advertisements are the best. If you start getting a lot of traffic you might want to add some cpm banners like ValueClickMedia.

Is it going to be a full site or just one page like the Ibanez Guitars site?

Very cool idea for a guide, good luck with it.

Figure that people using BT are looking for Music, Movies or Software. All of the above are being acquired... how shall I put this... through means of questionable legality.

So here are some totally unoriginal ideas:
-PC security / file deletion packages
-Free itunes offers, free ipod/zune offers
-Blockbuster/netflix affiliate programs
-Fandango affiliate programs
-Amazon contextual product affiliate links (movies, music, etc)
-Download speed boosters? Not sure about that one
-Spam shields? People going on these sites are probably rife with spyware, spam, malware, etc.
-Dell affiliate outlet deals and promotions, 10% off refurb. laptops, etc
-External hard drives, Tigerdirect affiliate program, need a place to put these huge files

Great post Rob, very good suggestions. It's a good idea to be thinking along those lines for sure. ie: Free, Virus Protection, Coupons, etc

By the way, I'd like to ask Jordan, how is the guitar site doing? Getting a lot of clicks with the blending?

Well as of this month the ibanez site has made ~$2.00 with ~100 impressions. I need to get more traffic to it.

My guitarvideos.org one has made ~$5.00 with ~1200 impressions.

Lol not that great ...

I know what you mean. I just moved past the grand sum of $30 for my sites from a couple of months very part-time work. Never mind, from little acorns and all that ...

I have two niche sites that together (one was the forerunner to the other, has a THIS HAS MOVED post, and yet still gets traffic and clicks) are producing around $14 per 1000 impressions. My main 'blog-on-blog' blog has to date produced the grand total of $0.67 from 2000 impressions. My CTRs are also much higher for the niche than they are for the blogging blog. I guess bloggers don't click

I would think it would be quite hard get into some ad networks mainly because your making a guide on a torrent type site, which can have warez in it and other illegal stuff happen. Just my thoughts obviously and could be wrong, but that's what I would think.

If that's the case, take 2 hours and make a website about p2p filesharing reviews, laws, etc. Tell the networks you want to promote their stuff on that site, and you plan to be writing a guide soon on the same topic.
