Just some things I've picked up along the way
in my IM journey I'm no means an expert but
I feel like I have something to offer here.

You may be like me, and come to this forum
every single day, reading all the posts and
getting excited about the day you start making
money online. Yes it's a very exciting feeling
and if you were like me, you would have no doubt
in your mind that whenever your decide to begin
your website/list/blog/ebook etcm, that you WILL
succeed.

Believing you will succeed is definitely
an advantage to have, because you will never give
it your 100% effort if you don't actually think
you can do it. However it's also this belief that
hinders our success. With all the claims of "I made
33,000 in 7 days,it's almost impossible to not imagine
and get excited about YOU making that sort of money.
However it must be said, chances are that's not going
to happen to you for quite some time.

What you need to do is take "baby steps" in reaching
your goals. The more you push and push, the more your
name is going to get out there, the more links you will
getand eventually the more sales your website will generate.

Put it this way, my main goal is to build my mailing list.
With all the talk about some members here having lists in
the "thousands" or "hundred of thousands". With my list only
having 100+ subscribers it would be easy for me to just give
up and say "whats the point, I'll never reach a figure like
that". But you know what? I can't sleep at night because I
realies that if I get only a measly 3 subscribes a day, in
1 year I will have a list of 1000 subscribers. That's
definitely a goal I can see myself reaching and doubling,
triping or even more which gets me even more excited.

The same can apply to any type of IM business. Would you
like 2 or 3 sales per day, think about how much money you
can raise in an entire year and then you will get excited.
Take baby steps like I mentioned and don't worry about what
others are doing.

Make a plan and stick to it and day by day do something
to advertise your business. Write articles, mingle on related
forums, create new products etc. If you never give up, you will
start to see results.

Sorry this post went way longer than I thought..I hope it makes sense

Good post.

Reading this forum and other similar forums, you can tell that many who are just getting started fail to take the time and concentrate on a project. They will start one, and in a few weeks, when that one isn't making them rich, they will start another. Before they know it, they have several projects going on and nowhere near enough time to develop them all.

Very good post. I am guilty of what Mike mentioned. I started making money on two myspace sites. I then went wild with new projects, and left my myspace sites. Now they are in extreme danger of dying out.

I already have several sites and have more planned. I really need to go back and work on my existing ones before making new ones.

Right on.
I stopped jumping from project to project at the start of this year. Funnily enough I've made more money than ever in the process..

I think the key is to just not get stuck in between. Some projects have a fast return, and if you don't see a fast return you probably aren't going to see much of a return at all. That said, the majority of sites will benefit from long-term efforts either way, and most sites require long-term effort. So the key is to know which projects to focus your energy on and which ones not to. I have whiled away years on some things to see very minimal returns, just because I was pushing for returns where they don't exist.

Yes and then learning how to build upon it...thats puts your system in place and then you just continue to tweak and build it.

To add to your post:
Baby steps will often lead you faster than you think. If you're patient you might find that it'll pay off sooner than you think. Within that year that you calculated you get 3 subscribers a day, you might find that in a couple of months that 3 turns into 10 a day. Then 10 turns into, 15. 15 into 25, 25 into 40... etc etc... As long as you play your cards right and dont give up on it.

One day you may be making nothing at all, but before you know it, a website can explode in your face. It's happened to me, I've had a website go from XXX uniques per day to 10,XXX uniques per day within a week, just because I had the right idea, and the right execution. It basically took off on its own and never fell.

I believe that everyone here who has a desire to make money online, has a niche out there somewhere. We just all have to find it, and that may take us months, if not years, of searching. And within those years of searching, we'll find other small mediocre projects that'll train us for that final one that makes the bank for us.

Of course it wont be your final project, it'll only feel like it. Because once you hit that niche, you'll just find reason to make bigger and better things. It's a neverending cycle.

To sum it up, dont give up, keep going, and soon your time and efforts will be repaid. Im not making even a fraction of what I was making this time last year right now, so I have to tell myself this everyday to keep myself going. But I am certain that things will eventually pick back up to speed

Definitely some great advice. My hardest problem is motivation. You need to keep on chugging. Little by little the hits will drip in.

The important and most time consuming and frustrating part is learning your system and setting it up. But once its set up, by doing those daily "baby steps", things will start to roll along almost effortlessly. This is what I am in the process of doing so I like to read things like this..
