Hi all,

I have a couple of questions:-

- Can anyone earn good amount of money by building and maintaining a forum...I mean the owner of the forum...

- If yes then how will they earn and what is the average amount they can earn per month....

- Also how much do they have to spend to create and maintain these forums....I know that these forums are created in php script...is it the only way that a forum can be made (using php)???

Look on the web and you will see a lot of forums. Some site owners use them just for their business or as a marketing tool. But there are others that make money from them. How much you make depends on the popularity of your forums. There are many ways to make money. You can use adsense, kontera, sell memberships, sell direct advertising, etc.

Yes, you can make good money with a forum. It takes time, and dedication. You can use adsense, affiliate advertising, and CPM networks as well as subscriptions, or if you can sell a product yourself. I personally make over $10k/mo with AdSense, Affiliate, and CPM.

Good luck with your site.

Sure thing, forums generate good page views, CPM networks usually dont like them but Adsense does

forums can generate a lot of money if you do it right. dont start off thinking your going to make it right away. you have to build it up and put a lot of work into it before you see anything. it also depends on your niche.

I can echo what all these guys have shared. I also like to be creative and promote CPA offers through my various forums. This can be very profitable.

If the forum is in a niche market, then an ecommerce store could be profitable.

That reminds me to contact google again about my account. I'm not currently earning via CPM and I want to earn from it again, but I sent Google an email and they have not responded or activated my account for CPM ads.

Just incase you are wondering, I am not a newbie and have been with Adsense nearly since they started their publishing program. The thing that done was sent them an email asking them to stop my CPM ads and I have decided that I want them back now after around 2 years of not having them.

Can you expand on this at all? How do you promote the CPA ads you run?

I think I must be doing it wrong I have a forum with 8,000 members, been running 5 years and it doesnt make a lot but takes up a ton of my time. Most people just want to chat while they are at work, they dont want to buy stuff. That said it's probably my niche.

Yeah, I can pretty much see that by having a look around. Funny how you get to the point where you can't visit a website without getting distracted into looking into the hows and whys of monetisation.

My niche is totally different to this kind of board though. Dont get me wrong I do make sales from it, just if I worked out the dollar per hour rate then I might be better off flipping burgers. Then again I enjoy myself own forum anyway. It's existence is not primarily money driven.

They are making money from the "premium" accunts and CPA advertisements.
Forums can be very profitable if you know what market to invest your time in and build up a community.

So long as your forum is filled with useful and relevant discussions in your niche, you will be able to drive more traffic into it. And when you have a solid member base and unique visitors - monetizing it would be a lot easier

First things first - Its easy to make a forum but difficult to maintain them as you have to be fully dedicated to it and do all sorts tricks in the trade to keep them at the top to gain positively from them.

The amount you earn depends upon the theme of the forums and what and how many ads you put on the forums and yes you can earn a lot from it if you do all the right things.
