I have posted this before, but thought it needed it's own thread.

I am getting hella traffic from Google for the search term, web address actually, for CallYourPlay.com and variations of this. PAGE ONE for the full web address. Why anyone types in a full web address into search bars is beyond me, but I am getting traffic to my blog, so who cares right?

Well, I do. How the hell can I monetize this traffic? They are on my site and gone in no time. I have YPN posted at the bottom of the post, an ebay auction posted that is related. Very few conversions, just thought I might be missing something you guys will see.

Do you think I should move the YPN up? PepsiCo doesn't exactly have a referral program, otherwise, this would be money in the bank.

Do I have a chance, or has this boat sailed already? If you guys could give it a look and let me know what you think, I would appreciation the direction or any suggestion, comments, good or bad. Thanks!

We've got a Pepsi vs Coke campaign you can try. Put a big ad up for prominently on the page, and you might get some action out of it.

skyscrapers dont normally do well. i would get rid of the skyscraper and move the 300x250 to the upper right above post on my blog. that is the best converting size at one of the best if not the best converting location. you could put another cpm 300x250 where the ypn one was. if you dont like that, perhaps you can put a leaderboard just below the header.

if you can get in with adsense, it targets much better. that ypn ad does not seem to be targeting very well.

Thanks for the replies. I could go with a new 300x250 ad in that location, but i would have to move around my template and at this point in the game, i just want to make it work. If i take time out to modify now, I might lose some $$, know what I mean?

I knew the skyscraper wasn't the best, but its in the space I have available. Maybe I could ditch the YPN on that post alone and put the same size madden ad there. Problem with that is, users aren't around long and may not even read the whole post.

I will try more things though, thanks again for the suggestions!

Alright folks. We have action. I added a 300x250 ad INSIDE the post at the top. The skyscaper stays for now, because it is seen site wide. The 300x250 is post specific.

Stats for today:
38 clicks
10 converted (as of 10PM CST).

Not bad for one day.

Total stats for this campaign: (3 days so far)
Impressions: 1,827
Clicks: 90
Conversions: 25

I am pretty excited about this traffic and the way I finally figured out how to make some money from it. Now I feel like I am getting somewhere! Thanks for all the help and kind words from this forum of course :tt1:

Nice job monetizing that traffic. Troubleshooting our own designs is a big part of making the traffic pay off. Don't be afraid to experiment, just make sure you track the results.

i agree with the skyscraper comment.

The funny thing is you can get better conversions than that. how, just keep trying new things....if it dont work, do something different

if it does work...great keep it and then make it even better.

Alright, I have reached the same amount in the first 12 days in November, that I had in the last 10 days of October. Obviously the traffic is going to dwindle down a bit.

I am just racking my brain trying to figure out how to keep the ad converting even after the promo ends (12/1). It may not go away completely, I just feel that when the Pepsi promo is over, my traffic for that keyword will die off.

I think the whole reason it is converting at all is because it's a targeted ad for the traffic reading the post.

Ok, I got my first check from Neverblueads.com! I am excited to see that this next 15 days I have an earnings increase of about 60%!!

I feel real good about this promo, but the Mt. Dew and Pepsi contest will be over soon. I hope this traffic won't die off completly, if anything I may have gotten a couple of subscribers out of the deal.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions, this forum has helped me out quite a bit in getting started in the CPA game.

Now that the sweeps is over (post is still up with ads in place) here are my overall stats for this ONE post.

Impressions: 13,866
Clicks: 988
Conversions: 269

Ranked #2 in Google Search for Callyourplay.com (right behind actual site), I am sure this is where all the traffic came from. People like to go to a website by typing the address into a search.

Not bad I guess. This was my first attempt at really monetizing my traffic. I did use a couple tips that I found here and would like to say thanks!
