Hey guys!
I'm about to launch a fan website about a very popular band. I've got some adsense on the site but I personally think with the kind of traffic i'm expecting to get that i'd make more money off selling ringtones. I'm wondering if there are any websites that sell ringtones/advertisements and let people take commission. Has anyone had luck with ringtones? Or should i stick with adsense? The people going to this website will probably be male/female ages 13-25.. thanks alot in advance

Ringtones do make a lot of people a ton of money. It's a very competitive niche, but don't let that keep you away. I would load your site up with cpa offers instead of adsense because you'll make about 10x more that way.

I used to do ringtones and did quite well actually. One day after months of 'Good' and 'Excellent' keywords and a site developed with keywords that matched the ads, Google jumped my bids to $12 and basically shut off my entire account. Google does not like landing pages, it's as simple as that. And my website had unique content about ringtones and artists, a contact page, privacy policy, terms, about us, and more. There was nothing spammy about it. I've never been able to get it going on AdWords again without moving the entire thing to a new domain.

The days of building a landing page with an affiliate link and using PPC to get immediate traffic is not what it once was.

I've been reading techniques of utilizing the major video sites to promote ringtones and was thinking about jumping into that. I think the technique is pretty saturated right now, but it still sounds worth trying.

I think ringtones and screensavers era has gone. Those where making money 2004-2005 from websites like MonsterMob, Jippii, etc using mobile billing. Anyway after distributors and mobile operators the content owner got only 20-25% of sales revenue.

Have you tried some of the affiliate networks. I'm sure I've seen one or 2 merchants within a few of them that offer ringtone products.

I tired that tactic. Maybe I wasn't doing it right but every single video that I watermarked with my ringtone site was deleted by every vid site for trademark infringement. Go figure

Sign up with any of the numerous cpa networks, Maxbounty, Neverblue, Hydra, CPA Storm etc. They all offer ringtones.
