I have been thinking about monetizing video

it seems to me that video money is about to push much text money away and a lot of big earners will disappear and be screwed

in the early days people were advertising properties and cars, ironically - it was a good floating showcase for selling

one day they'll sell bread

but right now there's the interim - and it's everything fromr retail to business to business but if you watch chinese streams, where much consumerism has evolved way faster, you see that BRANDING - smooth and silky, is the best way to mint the form for dosh - it's logical SAME AS NORMAL TELEVISION - think about it - think coca cola, and ronald macdonald

so use your space in the best way you can - don't just sell it off to merchants of arse

and if you have other sites making money, why not put your own adverts all over all your users' videos (a simple bit of software) selling the brand of your own most profitable business or website

handbags. soon they'll be buying handbags using video showcases. that's when the boom will begin, the big rush of liquidity.

money doesn't reside in banks, but in handbags

that is why america is still standing after the bank crash

anyway. i don't suppose any of that is relevant to you. but you shouldn't go selling your adspace to idiots. then again, who am i to say who's an idiot.

still. be versatile. and go to youku.com and tudou.com (tudou has LOAADS of advertising) and see how the big boys do it

google are very devious - they have a virtually-nazi framework built in to youtube so that all the money is carefully (and with the greatest of control) made under their strict supervision. they have gone mad and will eventually require google users to fit special devices to their toilets/lavatories/whatever-you-call-them-in-canada.

google, moreover, hasn't really got the murdoch type gloss which is visible in the far eastern networks

when the online content markets knocked out newsprint media it involved text marketing - now the people being knocked out are tv broadcasters - you have to go directly to the people who want to advertise - imagine if you have 10 million uk viewers and you tell a random supermarket they can advertise their christmas offers to all those people at specific times and days around christmas. or 200,000 in London, or whatever you've got, if it's any good.

all this pathetic handing control over to some giant middle-person with no morals is just silly - i've done it a lot myself

in the end i'm still stuck with the affiliate networks at the core, but i've been thinking to myself about building an affiliate network myself - i have recently planned in my mind the key parts of the core tracking system, which is after all the primary strength of an affiliate network - i am now confident that i can build a fabulous one. so if i make some money soon i can retire and build one. i'll let you know how that works out, as brad pitt says in the film.

take it easy. don't sell your advertising to mooks or goons. it's as simple as that, amigo.
