Hi,
What is the best way to bring down the visitors bouncing rate for a new search engine. Is there anyway to monetize a meta search engine?

What else are visitors to a search engine going to do?

They arrive, search and then leave.

Interesting content and have them interested enough to go to another page of your site.

Also - optimize your pages for long term KWs...you'll get targeted traffic that would be very interested in what you have to say (or display).

Your site must be easy to navigate. Because one of the common reason why visitors leave is because of loading slowly.

Content! The content in your website is an important factor in bounce rate. If the content is relevant to your visitors' expectations, chances are they won't bounce from your site without visiting other sections . Your landing page should also be well organized.

I am convinced that not one person actually read the first post

IF you run a "search engine" a "bounce rate" greater than 30% would be a fantastic SUCCESS!!!!!!!!.

It means you have given the visitor exactly what the wanted on the first page they viewed.

How many pages do YOU look at when searching at Google, Yahoo!, Bing?Live?MSN etc

Ooooooh! maybe just the one is it? then you leave. Good heavens! who would have possibly thought that would happen.

It may be best to give us your bounce rate first. Then we can see if it's about right. Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, you will not bring it down or could even ruin it if your bounce rate is already better than average.

A bounce occurs when a web site visitor leaves a page or a site without visiting any other pages before a specified session-timeout occurs....A commonly used session timeout value is 30 minutes. In this case, if a visitor views a page, doesn't look at another page, and leaves his browser idle for longer than 30 minutes, they will register as a bounce. If the visitor continues to navigate after this delay, a new session will occur."

^Nice copy and paste from wiki there jonelast, maybe attributing them your copy and paste could be a novel idea.
