So, I'm relatively new to the web development scene, been involved in networking and server management for years. What I am wanting to ask the community is this:

Do people pay for website traffic...I know people will say "why of course"....but I'm looking for something specific, I'm not talking about driving traffic that is intending to buy anything. Do people pay to just have someone navigate to their site? Basically paying to boost their web-stats.

Not if they have any sense.

But then if they have a mug lined up to buy the site, with a price based on a useless metrics they might.

having pay per click is a highly effective way of obtaining highly targeted traffic to your web site. The concept is easy. You just bid on targeted keywords for as little as .005 per click and receive targeted traffic to your web site. It just that.

I prefer not to if it is not a unique visitors. I heard of traffic exchange and SEOs do not recommend using that tactic.

The question was about paid traffic NOT pay per click, they are two very different things.

I have not heard of anyone that has had anything good to say about paid traffic.....mainly due to the fact that it is not usually targeted....

I misunderstood the post. I know its not the same. But as for paying for traffic? I don't think its right. You can try a lot of different ways to boost traffic. For instance, provide something that they want such answers to their problems or important information.

I agree with most of the conversation, but if you want to display your website why not?
You may expose it to a broad audience and see what happens, it is the same as posting an ad, except that the people will not only see the ad, but your entire site.

I am looking into this site: www.fulltraffic.net

They have a reasonable price, so, how about a one time situation?

You get a few thousand visitors, maybe some of them will come back, maybe not.

It is like paying per click actually, don't you think?

Regards.

Paid traffic is just junk traffic. Disinterested people visiting sites to earn "points" to get the same junk traffic to their sites or the WAHM army of "clickers" being paid pennies to "visit" web pages.

PPC advertising will get you visitors who are actually looking for your products or services so is more likely to convert.

This will end up being costly and it wont drive any valid clicks if you use Google Adsense or a similar program. Its best to work on your site and craft unique content. Then build backlinks and you should be able to grow your traffic organically.

We decided to make a test and we got some mixed results out of it. Tons of 'visitors' but without much activity, some just refreshing the front page.

Weird thing is, we got one new member!

Not really sure if I can safely say that it was just a scam.

You can read what we did here: http://intribu.com/forums/easytraffic-review

We will probably be doing some more tests, I will keep you posted.

Best regards.

People who visit your site because they get paid don't care about your site. It's like what chrishirst said.

That is what we are finding out, we decided to test it just to confirm and see how they work.
We are now getting our friends to send people from fb and it is working way better.

No. They are just bluffing themselves. On the other hand, there is a free exchange traffic then why to pay?

Depending on your site content, a good way to boost traffic is with network sites like Wahoha or MGID. I use a couple of them and it works out pretty well. Most offer a 200-300% exchange rate meaning for every click you send they send 2 or 3 your way. Zaparena has been really good to me plus they run ads with their links so it's another source of revenue. Last month I had some good traffic so I made about $75 from just that.

I agree with the Wahoha. They have great review. You should definitely try them.
