My point: You must be in the first 2 search pages to get noticed.

I am trying to do SEO for Cratima and XcellenceIT for some time
now, and I've tried not only to have the web site #1 at Google
for the keywords "Cratima" and "XcellenceIT", but also to have
as many presences as I can get in the first page.

I think is important to be in the first page, but it is not sufficient.
You have to be no 1, and you have to set a target for yourself to
occupy the entire first page.

Of course , it is best to be well indexed for other keywords, as
web design, web development, but this is more difficult, and if you
can get your web site in the first or the second page with these keywords,
you will be a SEO guru.

My questions: Are my ideas correct? Is there a big frontier between the first
3 pages of search results (at google for example) and the rest
of them, or not?

I think aiming to be on the first page of the SERPs is a good goal.

I'm not really sure what you're asking though. Research has shown (and common sense indicates) that page 1 results get more clicks than page 2 results.

Of course you are going to be #1 at Google for those keywords. I doubt that people looking for a web design/software applications company are going to type "Cratima" into Google. They are more likely to type something that is related to what they are looking for.

If you are doing SEO work, then may I suggest that you concentrate on better keywords instead of the name of the company.

That's your first mistake right there. In order to occupy the entire first page for anything competitive, you'd have to pull some pretty spammy stuff off. It's also not in a search engine's best interests to have one site dominate an entire SERP, since different information isn't presented.

I have a number of "first page" listings within the various SERPs and I find that there's almost no difference between #1 and #10. Users click on what they want to click on, pure and simple.

If you want to rank for as many keywords and phrases as possible, provide as much useful, relevant content as possible. You'll not only help your search engine cause, but your user cause as well.

I start at #1 and work my way down until I find what I'm looking for. With semi-competitive keywords that can be like #8 in the results. A lot of the time the first 3 or 4 sites are MFA. I'm getting into to habit of reading carefully before clicking in the SERPS.

If you had had the patience to read all my message you would have understood that this was my idea to. It is more difficult and important to be the #1 for keywords like web design and web development that for keywords like domain names Cratima and XcellenceIT.
