I scored 68 %, making me an SEO Newbie, but the test is flawed.

One question lists a possible answer: the link contains the tag - rel="nofollow" - I'm not gonna accept that someone who doesn't know what a tag is thinks I'm a dummy. That's question 42 of 75.

Was that the SEOMoz quiz, John? If so, you made it way further than I did.

I disagree with Adam about the SEOmoz quiz. It's far from perfect and many of the answers are open to interpretation, but I don't think it's as bad as Adam does.

That second quiz is completely useless. It asks questions where none of the answers are even close to being right or where no possible answer can even be known. And what it claims are the right answers are flat out wrong.

For example this gem of an answer why are meta tags important:

"Because it is a professional approach to Web design to have complete and accurate metatags."

umm...no it isn't. There is no such thing as complete metatags since you don't need any of them. They're all optional. I suppose we professionals now need to include every metatag ever created to make sure we're complete.

And it makes no sense to use the work accurate. What you decide to place in a meta keywords tag or a meta description tag is up to you. They have nothing to do with accuracy.

Adam please take that second quiz. It's only 10 questions. I know you didn't like the SEOmoz quiz, but trust me this one is so much worse.

Holy crap, Steven. You weren't kidding.

No, this is a waste of money. I will pay for the domain, when I am ready with the site.
Yes, early registration helps to have a mature site sooner and I will have to wait less till I get out of the sandbox.
Yes, by registering early, the site will get older sooner and since the age of the domain is important, this will help.
Yes, early registration will help me keep competitive without spending much on advertising.
How about "Yes, registering a domain name ensures that you'll have a domain name that is suited for your site and marketing objectives, and will avoid it getting scooped by a competitor?"

BUT THAT'S NOT AN SEO ANSWER!!!

This is why quizzes are silly. They only establish how little the quizmaster/quizmistress actually knows.
