Hi ... google webmastertools reports grubstreet.ca has 2064 links TO 98 pages from external sources. I run back link checks, found variously on the web, and the results are 2-9 back links per google. What's up? Also, if the 2064 back links are valid, does that equal a PR2? Ugh. I don't understand. Thanks in advance.

Google never shows all the links it knows about when you do a link: search. In fact there's no reason to ever use that search at Google since if offers nothing useful. What they show at Webmaster Central will be more accurate, but even then it's probably not perfect.

Should all those links equal a PR2? Depends on the PR of all those links and it also depends on how many Google knew about prior to the last toolbar PR update. The PR you see in the toolbar will only reflect what the PR of a page was whenever the last time Google updated the toolbar. I have no idea when that was though since I stopped paying attention to toolbar updates awhile ago.

Hi ... thanks for your wisdom, and you're quite right: what googles knows and when it knows it. Patience is often difficult, when one's sorta new to the game. I checked the PR of backlinks and range is 0-9, with about 5% PR8 or PR9. Rest seem to hover around PR4. Patience is a virtue, and I'll have to practice it a lot more. Thanks for your input.
