I have some domains that are parked on a service that provides many articles and content to increase listings of parked domains. I would like to move a couple to permanent hosting accounts but NUMEROUS articles that are indexed will disappear. Any ideas on how to automatically redirect the page not founds to the new index page of my site without penalty? I've heard alot lately about 301 redirects but not sure how to handle a situation that will have NUMEROUS listings throw page not found errors after the migration. Any insight from someone who has actually experienced and resolved this problem successfully would be much appreciated. I'm hoping for a tested and proven solution, not a theory. Thank You, Mark

Do you own the service where your domains are parked? If you do you can 301 redirect any page you want wherever you want. If the services and content isn't yours then you really can't do anything.

I would suggest a custom error page with an explanation and a site map of the new site. A custom error page redirects the 404 to the custom page. An example for you to see.

In this example I linked directly to the error page. You can test it by typing in any page name .html once you get to the site.

If the old parked site was under your domain name, you might also place individual 301 redirects form the old page name to whatever you want to direct it to.

I have done both and the first option is much easier.
