Welcome to you guys,

I have opened this topic to ask you some advice for my website: http://www.pixforacent.com. It is a pixel advertising website where pixels are for 0.05 cents, not like the original milliondollarhomepage where pix where for 1$.

I have a lot of knowledge about SEO and internet marketing but i have never tried to market a website like Pixforacent. It is powered by an open-source script named gpix, that is quite good and that give me the possibility to highly costumize my website and make it more SEO.

I am asking you your advice in order to better promote it, i am submitting it to a lot of Directory, found in this forum

, and also submitted to DMoz. I am also gonna post this thread in other forum and make you tune with my discoveries.

So what could i do else guys!?

Wow,.. that's a lot of empty pixels...

I think your first step is to buy a few hundred yourself to make it look like it's popular.

I think the pixel advertising fad has been and gone I'm afraid. I doubt that you'll get much interest in this site no matter how hard you promote it.

Well, i don't really wanna make money with it. Pixel advertisng is not just a way to make money, because if you think that you gonna be rich with it, you are simply dreaming. As you can see, if all the pixels are fulled, i am gonna have 700euros( oh my god, i am gonna be so rich

). No pixel advertising can be a good way to gain popularity for your website and this is what i am trying to make with pixforacent, i want him to become a source for pixel advertising and much more.

If you're not trying to make money with the site what exactly is it's purpose? Just asking so I can try to help. I'm not really following what you want to do with this site.

Not popularity for me but for the websites who will take a pixel link in pixforacent.

Pixforacent purpose is to show how it could be gratefull to have a pixel advertising compaign. For me, pixel advertising can act just like the directories and help websites to gain popularity. I am even thinking about making Pixforacent free, this mean that you can have a picture pointing to your website for free( maybe a 120x120 picture). It is gonna be just like a free directory.

I am not saying that you can't make money with pixel advertising, if you know how to correctly promote your website, you can make big boxs( but not 1 million, lol

).

I'm not sure you're going to be successful. What you're essentially building is a link farm. Pixel advertising is essentially a random collection of links. For the end user there isn't much or even any reason to visit one.

At least with a directory you can narrow down the links to a category or sub-category you're interested in. You don't have that option with a pixel site.

As for search engines I'd have a hard time seeing them give any weight to the links since they aren't really a recommendation for the sites, but again just a random collection of links.

The initial pixel site was able to be successful because it was new. All of it's popularity came from the newness of the idea and curiosity in that idea. Every so often someone manages success with a pixel site because they also add something new to the equation. The successful part is the new thing they add and not the pixels themselves.

The pixels are just a different way to create a link, but in the end it's still an extremely low quality link. The only way you can build popularity to the other sites is to build popularity into your pixel site and to do that you need to offer a lot more than just the pixel links. You need to give people a reason to visit your site and pixels alone won't do that.

If you want to become popular, then select one of the following subjects:
pharmacies
dating
adults
and your site overnight will have more hits from spammers than you can handle.
The good part, they all have money and they will pay you for placement

From the beginning to the end, i agree with you. I know that i can't make a million dollar and i don't want too. I am going to group the pixels in different categories(arts, bussines, etc), just like a directory. Also, i am not just gonna be offering pixels. I am also giving tips and advices about webhosting, cms, how to setup a pixel adverting compaign and much more.
