SE Sitemaps and a focus on my website ...

Hi folks. Haven’t talked with you in a while. As a non-webmaster / non-code-writer, I've been busy trying to learn about my site -- and just keep-up with its' operation. But, I'm losing ground. My site is www.USStrings.com . I have 3 questions to pose:
1.) I have been told that I should submit sitemaps to all the major Search sites which I have not done yet. I found a free source to do this:
XML Sitemaps Generator
The XML Sitemap Generator trawls through all levels of your site to generate an XML sitemap. It also gives you a running count of pages, provides a text-based URL líst and a HTML sitemap you can import straight into your site. The online version of the generator is free for sites of less than 500 pages, but there's also a low-cost script-based version for large sites that can be set up to automatically index your site, upload an updated XML file to your server and ping Google and Yahoo when done.
l did it and now have site maps in HTML, ROR and XML. But, the site says that I have to submit it to Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc. I have no idea what this means or what to do. Can you explain?
2.) Also, I’m working on incoming links from other music sites more than ever – but only getting about a 20% return. Perhaps that’s just the way it is.
3.) I’ve been thinking about streamlining the site quite a bit – fewer products / tighter focus -- but, I just don’t know. It costs me nothing to have all 375 products listed and I think it gives the site a sense of size and weight. On the other hand – in the two years I’ve been open all I’ve ever really sold are picks and strings. Everything else is pretty much just window dressing. So, perhaps that’s a reason to have a more focused, streamlined site offering just those products that I’ve had success with.
Can I have your thoughts on these items? You all always seem to have a balanced response.
Thank you.
