Dammit, you guys are all talking about myths and you've forgotten the most famous myth of all: the -30/-950 penalty. A small handful of sites just "lose" 30 or 950 positions, so we assume that Google is penalizing them that way.

What about, if your content isn't relevant, well organized and accessible by most other SEO steps aren't going to help it gain rank? (The myth being that this isn't the first step of SEO)

We were taught DW at the end of our courses, after we learned hand-coding. Which is probably why I know it but still don't use it.

I'm not too sure that these are all myths...

I would at least argue that the following is true:

* Pretty sites get more return traffic, and generate more inbound links nuturally. (I.e. this is a nice looking site: LINK)
* SEO requires regular tweaking. (If not tweaking, then at least monitoring, surely)
* SEO is easy to learn. (The basic principals are easy to learn. It's the implementation that is difficult)
* The results of your SEO activities are difficult to accurately predict.
