Are You A Link Whore?

I wanted to take a moment and refer everyone to a blog post titled Are You A Link Whore? It lives on a very influential blog, one that convinced me almost a year ago to join the I-Follow movement. Adam's example and Forrest's recent posts have reminded me and convinced me to rejoin "the movement".
There have been some questions lately on the nature of spam, what it's definition and borders are, what's considered acceptable. This is a different view on the matter, and a good resource for comparison. I'd also like to say Randa's blog is pretty dang valuable for the readers. I can only recommend it.

Ba ha ha ha ha.... That was a rather good (Short) article & had a bit of added humor to boot.
1.) I've never purchased a link - call me cheap -
2.) I normally provide Viable information anywhere I post (Forums Only - I don't do blog posts) - So I had to actually think for a minute on that before scoring it - Answered NO because I don't check a No-Follow prior to providing Info.
3.) I don't write press releases & all the articles I do write are on My own site with merely an author tag at the bottom, so i didn't qualify here here.
4.) Not even sure what a trackback is.... Though I'm pretty certain I would know if I did use a method like that - I normally research prior to using - I guess I'm a smart addict
5.) I have 1 SB account with Del.ico & I don't even use that, not sure why i even signed up for it
6.) Heck, i don't even e-mail other webmasters (Let alone Bloggers) begging for a link back, thats just too funny - I always felt that they would link to me willingly if I provided them with something useful
All & All I scored a "0"
Thanks for the humorous yet educating Article "Learning Newbie" I think if more people read it, it would help detour some of these 2-4 word posts (OOps, I may have just jinxed it - look out, here they come - Possibly -)

A trackback is when a blog links to another blog, and it sends them a notification. It leaves behind a funny looking comment [that includes the text around the link] and shows up in your dashboard.

Ahh, I learn something new everyday.. Thanks for heads up on that. I guess I'm not into the whole blog swing thing enough to stay hip on all the terms.
Sounds as if a trackback can be beneficial in some ways, not sure a mass scaled TrackBack campaign would be advisable though.
The closest I get to blogging is on my own site, I use an integrated blog type system to warehouse all my articles (Fueling an in-house Unique content theory). The only options I allow members as far as article/Blog submissions is their author tag/link in the footer of every article they submit in order to aid in a Viable anchored IBL campaign.
What exactly are the Benefits of a TrackBack? I mean is it just a PM to draw repeat attention to a particular blog or is there a form of permanent anchor text that stays in a indexable list somewhere?

Good read. - I've never bought a link in my life. No reason to.
- Whether a blog has nofollow or not has nothing to do with whether I comment. That's not even altruism ... I just don't have time to read blogs that don't interest me.
- I haven't issued a press release. I don't have anything all that newsworthy to say.
- I'm too selective about who I link to for this.
- Well, I have a delicious and a stumble upon account ... technically I guess that's multiple, but ... you've got me on a technicality on that one. But I don't have either of those accounts to send up my own stuff. Delicious is convenient for narrowing down a big list of things I might want to go back and refer to, whether I'm at work, home, or somewhere else.
- No, but I made it onto a few blogrolls without having to ask...
Man, I didn't get a single point. I suck at this game.

Very good read.
1. I think it's slightly misleading. I bought a link about 5 years ago, but it was for the RoI of the link from a purely advertising point of view (turned over 10fold for me, so it was a wise investment.)
If people buy links for advertising reasons (banners and things), then that's okay. Buying them for SEO/PR? No.
3. Issued a press release, but not all links, and not in years.
4. Issued a trackback, but not for the link. I issue trackbacks because they're relevant to the topic.
5. and 6. Lord no.
I'd consider myself a 0, but I can understand if people scored me a bit higher.

I gave myself a 5 on the quiz, though I could have called it less since I don't think I did something quite the way it's meant on the quiz. I think that means I'm only a tramp and not a whore.
Forrest I think the multiple accounts refers to having more than one account on a single social bookmarking site. I don't believe it's meant as having a single account on multiple social bookmarking sites.
By the way here's an older article by Eric Ward on the same topic. I think he's the one who coined the phrase. Sorry no quiz in this article, but still a good read.

How did you score a 1? The minimum points for a yes answer is 2.

Good blogs are just the ones writting articles himself.
So post your own thinking and your own things.

Well...either I took the wrong test, misread the instructions or (as I suspect really happened) - nothing is impossible for Sponge-Bob!

Interesting. You are a sponge of many talents. Able to defeat a quiz with a single point. I assume you can leap tall buildings with a single bound too.

Well, he did get the point Randa was trying to make with her post, so that's 1 point.

As a sponge I have absorbed many talents during my short life...wringing the wisdom out of moderators and others, scouring the obscure threads and soaking up what bits of information have been floating around.
This is a bit frustrating actually. I'm having trouble coming up with puns for sponge...My mind's as porous as a sieve...
