No, I'm not talking about smoking marijuanna through an apple. The buzzword for the winter is "low hanging fruit" at least where I work at. If we have two bugs to fix, one that takes an hour and another that takes a week, we fix the easy one first because it's "low hanging fruit", we can look better faster to our clients.

The term comes from being hungry at the orchard - are you going to take the apple you can reach, or are you going to climb the tree for one at the top? Or, if you're super lazy, will you just take one from the ground? It was ripe last week, maybe even starting to ferment by now.

In SEO, low hanging fruit is the <title> and <h1> and <h2> and <h3> tags, which really ought to be right before a page goes live. But it's also directories, social media, and I-Follow blogs.

High fruit is well researched quality content that leaves a pleasant taste. It's links from the blogosphere that came all by themselves. Everyone out there who's feasting on the good stuff, give us some examples to learn from, and tell us how you built your ladder that lets you climb up to the top of the tree and get the choicest apples?

All the apples taste the same to me, no matter where they're grown on the tree

I'm also after "high fruit", so to say, but quality links don't have to come just from the blogosphere. To build the ladder, you need to start with a quality website.

(I can't really give example since I'm not quite at "the top" of the fruit tree, yet)

John, I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but here is an example from another post I made.

Quote:
For an example, check out the article I wrote and submitted to ezinearticles.com on how to pick a pool builder. Notice the link to my site at the bottom. By doing this, I'm attracting quality traffic to my site, and have also established myself as an expert.
http://ezinearticles.com/?How-to-Pic...lder&id=692688

Now do a google search for "how to pick a pool builder." You'll notice my article comes up as the number 2 result. Granted that article is not a direct link to my site, but it is sure to bring me quality traffic, and in the end helps boost my own SERP's as well.
I suppose you could call that fruit, even though I planted the tree myself. It should yield high fruit nonetheless. It may not be high volume traffic, but will reach my exact target audience and should have a high conversion rate from guests to members.

And is exactly as it should be, forget the "willy waving" rankings and get the visitors and sales
