Does deeplinking help my pages get indexed?

I have a fair number of links to my homepage but it is taking a while for the SEs to index all my pages. If I get some backlinks to pages that are deep in my site, will the rest of them get indexed faster?

Yes obviously a bit - if the search engine is told a page is there, it doesn't have to go looking for it and potentially miss it. A sitemap may also help.

A sitemap should be your first choice because it's the easiest to accomplish.

However comma,....

Getting deep links benefits you more in that having linked ranked subpages helps your site not only seem authoritive but it also allows subpages to link back to the homepage and pass rank juice.

It would provided you have something worth indexing, But assuming we are talking about the sites in your signature I doubt it will make a lot of difference.

The first site in your signature says:

Quote:
This product will simply explain how to get your existing websites (all pages) into Google by tomorrow. In addition it will show you how to create new pages and have them listed in Google's search results within hours (NOT DAYS).

Does this mean the product doesn't work?

Would this apply to blog's as well?

I have a few pages that have some rank according to the silly toolbar should I go in and edit the post and provide a link back to myself?

I don't know how useful it might be to go back and edit old posts? From only a seo standpoint, that only accomplishes anything if the search bots go back and reindex those pages.

But having links that point to pages within your site and not just the default page is definitely beneficial in seo terms. If I were writing a search engine, I would see those as far more 'natural' ... people don't usually say "I really liked a page I saw on this web site, go see if you can find which one I'm talking about." I realize some people with bad authentication systems prefer that ... but the assumption seems to be that the type of links Google prefers tend to go to whatever specific page another site is recommending, editorially on merit.

Thanks for the reply.

I've got a couple of internal pages that some people have found interesting and they get linked to on blogs or forums once in a while. It has happened enough times that these pages now have a PR (according to the tool bar) ranging from 1-3 while the blog itself has a PR of 4 (again, according to the tool bar). So I was wondering if your advice above would apply to this as well.

I guess yes... And a sitemap would be a big help to get your pages indexed faster...

Well, those are exactly the type of links you want. Hopefully they brought you some traffic, and it sounds like they took the same amount of effort on your part not getting them would have required. A win-win situation.

I think Google's assumption is that a link to the home page usually means "I owe this person a favor, so here's a link for them" whereas a 'deep' link is more like "this is a good page that you should look at." A three year old could probably explain in more detail, but as dangerous as it is to oversimplify, I think that type of thinking fits into Google's algorithm to some extent.

I'd rather get or 'build' a link to almost any of my internal pages than my home.
