Do you think PageRank is the most important factor in Search Engine Optimization and SERPs?

My personal opinion is that In-page optimization is much more important than good page-rank, what's your opinion?

Toolbar PR isn't even a factor at all so ANYTHING is more important.

I also think its pointless as my best domain has a pr of 0 lol, i was lookin on digital pointless and loads of people still think pr is everything !

Oh no...not another PR thread.

No it's not important.
There is toolbar PR which is "just for fun" and "REAL PR" which only Google knows. So the "REAL PR" is only important if you depend on Google for traffic...but it is out of our control, so don't lose any sleep over it.

Yah right! PR is only for those in this field... Do you think you can able to get a sale having a pr10? and the usual visitors of the site has no idea on what the PR is all about. although am not saying PR is not important, its just a fact that its not the most important in the field of SEO and SERPs.

It's not that important anymore... But it would be nice to have a good PR... Content and quality link building is more important for me.

Bioring and been cover over and over and over on every webmaster foum that exists, Google PR has little to no value at all and the PR you see on a toolbar is even more pointless as it is always so far out of date.

Only thing PR is any use for is advertising and if you sell links on your site as for some stupid reason alot of people still think PR actually means something and think that its ok to charge more for a PR 6 page which has way less visitors than a PR3 page which is just stupid IMO.

As I and everybody else who is any good at SEO has already said many many times in every webmaster forum I use PR makes little to no difference in serps and it is serps you should be wanting to be good as thats what brings you traffic from search engines.

You could have a PR11 website if your traffic quality and quantaty is lower than the PR2 website then the PR2 website is going to sell more of its profuct assuming the product is the same price is the same and service of the company.

PR is only any use for advertising websites who sell links on there saite as they can demand more money from webmasters who dont have a clue and think that PR is important.

Well I would still have to disagree of my experiance I have seen no value in PR effecting serps at all I have had sites drop PR and yet rank higher in serps than before and the I have had sites raise in PR and drop in serps all to often.

I have seen websites with PR1 out do PR6 websites in serps in Google way to often for PR to actually mean anything at all, plus as far as all the other search engines go they dont take any notice at all of PR.

If your chasing PR at all your wasing your time, I personally take very little to no notice of PR at all as it does not really show anything, your better of reseaching a website properly rather than looking at PR.

PR is almost as pointless as Alexa rank.

PageRank is really important because it represents how quality is your site but pagerank is just one of the most important factor in SEO. So you can't just focus on PR because there is still a lot of factors you need to consider.

I think PR matters. But it all depends on what niche is your website. I do believe traffic is vital factor. To get traffic, you must have backlinks from those website which has lots of visitors looking for similar or related niche. On the way of making such links, you will get PR. So it is important.

Wrong way around.

the links that create the PR are the useful bit, the PR number is merely a by-product.

Otherwise it's a bit like saying;
Carbon dioxide is important because it comes from burning fossil fuel, so lets burn more fossil fuels to get MORE carbon dioxide.

I think PR is as important as the other things. I just try to search some longtail keywords,I found the site's PRs of the top results are higher than the below.

PR will come into play when third-parties are valuing advertisements on your site. You will be able to sell ads for more if you have a higher PR. But Google is throwing around so many PR penalties, and webmasters are manipulating their own PR so much, that it is a stupid measurement for people to base those things on.

Absolutely NOT.
Lets take this example: if you search for "new york banks" in google, the first result has PR 0 and the result number 99 has a PR 4. So you see, it is not THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for a website.
