Actually, you don't need to know either. But, as you said in another thread, you're new to SEO and you're getting fed BS and misinformation (go figure).

If you want to find out if you're ranking for a certain keyword or phrase, check your site stats. If you see sufficient referral traffic, you're fine...if not, you've got work to do. Likely it's the latter, or you wouldn't be asking.

As far as PageRank goes, everything you need to know about PageRank, with external sources and explanations, can be found in this sticky thread.

For PageRank, install the Google Toolbar and visit your site. For placing in the SERPs, run a query against your keyword and see where you land. It's very easy.

It's also very much a waste of time. You want to rank well for searches that get run a lot that are going to bring people who might want to become your customers to your site. Like ADAM said you can know this better by looking at your statistics than by running queries because Google has lots of data centers. You could be #1 in the DC that you happen to run a search against and #111 in the one your potential first customer hits. Or vice versa.

Stick with Adam's advice. Traffic you get from your SERP should your main concern - and also the conversions that you get from it.

Change your google preferences to show 100 results per page.
Do a search on your keyword
Ctrl + F and find your domain name in the search
Position the mouse over "Cached" under your listing
At the bottom of the browser you will see google chache string, find "cd=some number"
That number is your position in the search for your keyword.
Record that number
Keep working on your site expansion strategy
Repeat the above after 1 month
Compare your position with the previous month

If you have improved - great! keep working on it and one day you will be at the top
If you have not improved - you have done less then all of the websites above you or what you've done is rubbish - start again with something different.

you can do it manually, set your google at advance search for top 100 search then press Ctrl+F to type in your domain name to know where is your site being rank when you already find it put your mouse over the word Cached to know the ranking of your site (see it at the bottom of the window- task bar)

I prefer to check my keyword rankings manually.. In that way, I can make sure it is accurate.. But I only use manual checking on my major keywords...

Enough with all this rank checking!

Does checking your rank make your business successful?!

If you want to do real SEO, have a look at your site statistics. See what keywords are actually bringing traffic to your site - examine your description and title in Google and see how you can make your pages look more useful to visitors (and of course make sure the page IS useful to visitors).

Rank checking achieves nothing since you may not even be getting any traffic from that particular keyword. Just examine site statistics and look at the competition and how you can make your site more useful to visitors.
