I have only just started to use them and have found Google has cme to my site more than it normal does

i installed the WP plugin, works nicely. Is there anything similar for other sites non-blog related?

I very rarely use sitemaps myself while browsing, so I do not really believe they are useful, unless it is a governmental or other very big organization.

So, no, I do not use sitemaps.

Yes, I have. But not for all.

For those sites I have it on the script had addons/mods that did it for me.

Used to have them earlier, but no more. Well not the google xml version at least...I do have html sitemaps on some sites of mine and that might have helped in indexing as well

I took the easy route and used the Add Me site map generator on a new 60 page site, Speculation Rules. Add me will let you add their generator tool to your site if you wish.

The pages I had early links to had already been indexed, the rest were indexed right after I added the site map to google.

It's easy, it probably can't hurt, and it might help.

I had setup Google sitemaps for several of my sites and didn't really see the benefit of it. Then a few months later I see that Google has added some cool stats. Things like your top 20 search terms you show up for. Pretty cool.
