Just posted this on my blog about the long tail of search optimization.
It is about the HitTail tool and their vision of the Long Tail of Search Optimization. (in video format.. always nice

)

I just started testing the HitTail script and it is cool to see the hits coming in, but I'm not sure yet if this will be very usefull. I like the concept of the Long Tail though.

Any thoughts on this (or experiences with the tool?) ?

The long tail is something everyone should be utilizing. It is wildly important. And HitTail is a great tool that I've been using since its inception for helping to determine which phrases to target. If you aren't concentrating on the long tail, get to it!

hmm.. this makes me wonder what everyones long tail looks like.
for my www.wetenschap-nieuws.nl site it is around 47% top 10 words 53% rest..

I've personally had traffic from long tail searches... the problem is keyword research, because long tail searches tend not to be very common
