SEO and SEM is all well and good but you need to measure how many visitors you get, where they come from and how many pages they look at. If you don't measure, you can't improve.

I measure traffic to all of my sites using a paid-for PHP script called binarySTATS. Unfortunately the author of this package, and his website, has disappeared without a trace.

I also use WebTrends Enterprise at work but find it too inflexible for my taste.

What do other people use ?

i´ve been using a lot of different solutions, both personal and for my work.
Analog, Webtrends, SageMetrics, Statcounter, MVtracker, Nedstat etc. etc.
It´s all fine, but I like Google Analytics the most.

It´s really flexible and I an get all the information I need in a fairly simple way..

I get free awestats with my host, but it only updates every 24 hours (last host provided a refresh button) and while it shows lots of nice stats I'm really not too sure what to make of them

I use Google Analytics, combined with Webalizer for up-to-the-minute stats.

Used to use Awstats but GA is really on a different level of detail - for example you see the individual navigational path people are taking through your site, which pages lead to the most ad click throughs, you can chart the performance of referring sites over time etc etc. Its hugely hugely indepth. Highly recommended.

Quite a wide range then, eh ? I certainly prefer tagging based solutions myself as they allow you to make changes far more quickly in response to changes in the way that people use your site.

Trouble it can become quite addictive, siting there watching them moving around your site !
