SEO For Dummies is a good enough starter book. You won't see some of the more advanced techniques, but it covers the basics for you. And, if the bookstore has any SEO books, it would probably be that one.

seo books are out of date so fast.

if you want a quality read, get aaron's seobook at www.seobook.com

otherwise you are better of spending your money on a good coding book about PHP/mySQL or if that is too advanced, HTML/CSS, and do your SEO/SEM learning online at various forums/blogs and through listening www.webmasterradio.fm

Things change too fast in this indusrty to make any paper SEO book worth it.

Would love to hear your opinions on this and whether you feel it holds any value for people with intermediate-advanced SEO skills.

Hi Longroad: If you have intermediate-advanced SEO skills, I suggest you let go of Aaron's Book. 50% of it actually contains explanation on how Search Engines work and how Google ranks pages and some book recommendations.

I would say stick to what you know. If you are resourceful enough, you can find most information online.

I agree.

But, there are a few topics that those of you who have read the book might have found new and interesting.

IP cloaking comes to mind although it's been a while since I have read my copy.

What say you?

Yea I'd agree with that. I always tell people that if they're starting out, SEO Book will do one valuable service for them. It assembles all this information into a single package. It's a time saver. You certainly can find all the info from the book, and much more, by keeping up with the forums and blogs. However, if you don't have any intention of being a SEO wonk like me, then SEO Book is a good choice. You could also pick up five or six paper books on the topic, such as the SEO for Dummies book I mentioned before, and accomplish nearly the same thing (the only difference being that SEO Book gives you free updates).

Really? So SEO for dummies and Aaron Wall's SEO book are practically the same thing?
