I was reading in another recent thread here in the Servers & Security forum that changing the IP address of your site (i.e. by changing your site from one server to another) "too often" might cause you to be penalized by the search engines.
Since I recently moved my site off one dedicated server which I've had for a long time, but possibly only temporarily and may move the site back, I was curious about this (i.e. my site was at IP#1, moved to IP#2, then may move soon back to IP#1). Is it true that a site can be penalized for this (or perhaps a similar but more extreme case), and if so, does anyone know the limit or safe amount of time between moves? I tried to search in Aaron's SEOBook which I bought the other day, but couldn't find any mention of this.
Anyhow, I have a few really good rankings I don't want to lose and the mention of this caught my eye, so I figured I'd check with the pros
Thanks you guys!
