I would like to hear what the plans are on this, especially the features you plan on providing.

vbseo's price isn't a concern for me, and having something that is cheaper in cost wouldn't be a selling point. More concerned with quality than price.

I don't trust a free program with very limited support to manage every url on my site and to do it correctly. It looks like it rewrites urls and that's about it.

I know. I just wouldn't use it myself. I know VBSEO works correctly + has tons of other features I find very useful. I don't like to cut corners in other words.

yeah, but I guess if you're on tight budget, it's a good substitute, at least until you can get vBSeo

I wouldnt recommend doing that. Then you will have your urls reindexed a total of 2 times instead of just once. One time when you use the free program and another time when you use VBSEO. Just causes a bunch of problems espicially with the way that Google is acting now.

I've been using vBSEO on BigBlueBall.com and I'm very pleased with it. Prior to that, I had implemented an earlier version of Dani's SEO mod (of DaniWeb), it also worked very well, but... it didn't do a few things that vBSEO does (namely, allowing me to use the forum name as part of the path); the installation was a royal PITA (though I hear that's changed); and administration was nowhere near as flexible and powerful.

SEO-friendly URLs help ranking, period. But even if they didn't, I prefer them because they can be read by mere humans. When I'm scanning search results, if I can read the URL and get a sense of what the page is going to be about, I'm much more likely to click through.

Question from a newb: do you guys identify a niche and build a forum, instead of an ordinary content site? And do any of you run hybrids a la sitepoint?

Incidentally, what do you aim for in terms of a landing page? Let's say we take 007's moneyforum, or bamastang's mustang forums. Would you want google search for money to take you to money.com? Money's signup page? A search on mustangs to the buy/sell forum? To some informational posts?...

This vbSEO sounds pretty good, anyways.
