Hello,

I have quite a few blog posts at this point and I was wondering if turning some of these posts into an article or two would hurt my SE ranking.

My blog setup like this: mysitedotcom/blog

My homepage is designed around selling a piece of software that I have written. I think since the blog is related to the software, then a few articles about why I wrote the software and what problems it solves would help get people deeper into my site.

I am just worried that because the articles would be made up from some of my blog posts (with some reworking) that I would be penalized for duplicate content.

Thanks,
Chuck

don't worry about that.. IF google will think of it as duplicate content, it will pick one that is considered to be THE content, and it will drop the other into the supplemental results.

Tip: make sure you have a different pagetitle on the blogposting and the article and I think you'll be ok..

I dont see why your going to report the same information as articles with some reworking, I would write them as articles and submit them to newsletters and article directories.

Just my 2 cents.

SohaibT has the right idea. Write your articles, post them in your blog and then once Goolge has cached it, submit them to article directories. That way if Google notices it is a duplicate, the penalties wont go to your site.

mostly articles now are PLA (private-label articles) so called but in fact they are over used articles and more already have benefited from it, try learning to write your articles, the internet is a vast library, all you have to do is research on the topic that interests you, and Im sure you will put in only a couple of works on it, esp. if that topic is your expertise.

So I should write the articles and submit them to newsletters and article directories. Then those articles are linked back to my website?

Thanks for the replies. This is very helpful.

I started the blog so I could get a lot of my "ideas" and "thoughts" out there faster. Then whenever I am ready I can go back to old posts and expand them into articles.

Yeah good idea, I have never really got into the whole "blog" scene but I hear people can make a fair amount from their personal blogs and also get quite a following!

Just takes too much time, which is sadly something I have little of!
