Which is better for SE's.

NicheKeyword.com

OR

Niche-Keyword.com

Or are they both equal?

I'm still not ranking number one for my "Cool Niche Keyword" although I own CoolNicheKeyword.com

I'm thinking about registering Cool-Niche-Keyword.com and seeing if that'll help any.

Is your site for search engines or for people? If you're going to be aiming for SE traffic, using dashes isn't a horrible idea.

I've actually read that dashes are better in term of SEO, but it wont make a HUGE difference, a dashed domain wont do much if you have poor optimization. I also have to agree with unionisnotdead thats its not that good for branding.

I've read that. Have also read that excessive dashes "may" set off over optimization/spam filters.... I use them on toss away domains. I would never use them for a business I wanted to brand. As was said above multiple times... it is not a great idea when branding.

is BlueHat SEO. Definetly worth a read, and will probably inspire some new project that is going to take up some of your valuable time.

But then again... long domain names are something to avoid in my book.

Yeah but that was just an example to push the point home

Ideally you get both the dashed and non-dashed. If you have 3 words or more, or more than about 10 letters I'd go for dashes in publicity stuff.
