Hi, all this is my first post here. I've been wandering around this forum for some time, and I think it's great

Well onto my question:
I have a site, and I've optimized it for a keyword. It is already indexed in Google, MSN and Yahoo. And it's PR 2. I have been doing article marketing to generate traffic and links. And making avrge $1 a day However for my main keyword I only see it ranking in MSN, which is the #1 result on the list.
The site is not even in the Top 100 of Y! and G!
So I was wondering what should I do? Does it take time? Do I need more content?

For now I just want to be in the top 100, to see I'm actually ranking :helpsmilie:

Thank you all,

PS. Any grammar mistake, please forgive me, I'm from Peru.

Um you need a higher PR and more backlainks. If the top 10 sites for the desired keyword has a pagerank of 6 and are many years old your site will probably have to have the same age and pagerank.

Helpful advice preacher .

MSN is more biased towards on-page optimization than Google or Yahoo. So I imagine you've already done the right stuff, if you're ranking #1 on MSN for your keyword.

For Google and Yahoo, browse the top 100, and see if any of the sites/pages there are small, or might be managed by not-too arrogant webmasters who'll trade you links. Mentioning you're #1 on MSN and can thus help their ranking there will likely make it more interesting a proposition. And don't make the request generic. Look around the site, give them some feedback, report a broken link if you find one, comment on what you like about their design... Make it personal, in a word.

Lastly, the preacher forgot to say: go read my blog .

There is a right way and a wrong way to do article promotion to increase backlinks.

The right way is having relevant links to referenced resources (not a duplicate of content on your page, but related content in the same topic). In addition, distributing to sites that keep links live and include the author section when available for republication.

The wrong way is simply pointing every resource to your homepage ...as well as distributing to sites that do not keep links live.

Actually MSN is pretty easy to fool with the usual onsite optimization techniques, Yahoo is also about on-site optimization but their better than MSN, you can fool MSN with placing your keyword a couple of times in your title and spreaded around in your content, but that doesnt usually work with Yahoo and most certainly it wont work with Google.

If you give us the url and the keyword(s) your targeting, we can give you some more detailed insight

Thank you all for your answers.
I guess I'll mention that I'm 1 in MSN to grab some attention when building links :P I have link partners but not big ones.
About the article marketing, hopefully I'm doing it the right way, deep linking to my site in the articles. Not using the same content.

Well my site is menskincaretips.com and my target keyword is..men skin care tips

Thats a pretty easy term IMHO, so it shouldnt be that hard to rank the website on Google and Yahoo!

1st of all, this is an article website, is the content on the website unique? seach engines dont like duplicate content, and if its one of those adsense ready sites, ull have a hard time ranking it. Getting some custom articles in there isnt a bad idea, we have some excellent writer here on the forums, check the advertise it section.

You have 0 links pointing to your website as far as Google in concerned (dipite the fact that you have a PR2) you definetly need more links pointing to your website, make sure to use your target keyterm in the anchor text.

Great advices from fellow members.

In today's search engines, links are still the number one currency for determining how popular a page is, hence the rank.

It is important that you only utilize white hat approach to SEO. Reciprocal linking becomes less and less effective.

Also, if you have a blog, then you can submit to blog and feed search engines for more visibility.

Hope that gets you started.

Umm, are people searching for 'men skin care tips'?

Anyways, if that is the case, go to your local department store (whatever the american equivalent is to The Bay, Holt Renfrew, etc.) and get some free samplers from the cosmetics people. Interview them, review and discuss products...
easy way to get lots of content, and build your authority in the niche. Two good ways to earn links.

Hmm, I will fill the site with original content. Not all content is original.
This wasn't a ready made site, but I did it take some of them as models. I really want to make this a useful site but at the same time make money.

The blog of the site is also having some traffic, though I never submitted it to rss engines, so thanks

...Well, actually this is my very first site intended to make money. I decided on the subject since I also figured it out that should be easy. There are some people looking for men skin care it seems . I plan then tack bigger markets.

Thank you all for your help, I couldn't really understand why I was 1 on MSN and not appearing on the rest.

I was planning also to add new pages based on keywords. If I do that, should I write new content for each page, or direct them to a more general page. For example someone enters to "black skin care for men usa" page and I direct them to "black men skin care" page...:P --Also, should I put these keyword targeted pages only available on the sitemap?
