Keyword Targeting Problem

I am currently creating a website about several tv shows (in german). I used the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to find out what keywords people are bidding on and I found out that the english word "season" has a much higher average CPC than the german word for it ("Staffel").
Now I am unsure how I should go about targetting those keywords, since many people are searching for both keywords in SEs, although "season" gets searched for more often than the german version.

Can someone recommend a way to rank well for "season" and possibly also "Staffel", while at the same time also targetting "season" for ads?
Should I put "season" in a h1 tag and "Staffel" in the page title? I am also using mod_rewrite for URLs, should I put "season" or "Staffel" into the URL for the page?

You can target both words. Use them interchangably in the text and headers. I don't think it will matter which one you put in the URL or H1 tags, as long as you optimize for both on the page.

As for the adsense, it will automatically find the highest paying keywords for you.

How would I optimize for both of them? Using one in one sentence and using the other in the next sentence would look horrible to the user, which is why I am asking.

Would it be enough to mention the word once on the page so that it targets it?

Why not just have two different language versions of your site if you can speak and write both reasonably well?

Also keep in mind the concept of localized search engines. Using overture's keyword selector tool I can see there are not many searches for "Staffel" on Yahoo.de, and almost none on the USA Yahoo. There are less searches for "season" than for "staffel" on Yahoo.de.

Do you live in Germany? Are you sure that this is the terminology they use? Seems like awfully low search volume...

I should have mentioned that they are actually searching for "<show's name> season <season number>". And the entire site is going to be geared towards germans, so having an english and german version wouldn't be an option for me.

I think I'll just target "seasons" and then put "staffel" somewhere on the page to also catch the occasional person who searches for that.

Thanks for your input.

My statement about low search volume still applies, if you're interested.

As I said, you have to search for "<show's name> season <season number>" instead of "season".

Even better is to just search for <show's name>.

It might be geared toward Germans but Robs suggestions was the first thing I though when you wanted to target both terms.... I would go that route.

Germans are searching for both terms, so it wouldn't make sense to give them two different versions. It's not like people from the UK are trying to find english information on a german website.

Ok here we go...

US Yahoo Searches, July 2006

27360 searches for "lost season 2"

German Yahoo Searches, July 2006

176 searches for "lost 2 staffel"

Nothing's stopping you from making a website about Lost.
But making a bilingual website is out of the question for me. (Especially because my website is a huge project and will have *loads* of content. I can send you a link when it's online in case you doubt me or are interested.)

My premise is basically figuring out how to rank well for the English version of the term and then figuring out how to squeeze a good ranking for the German version into the same page.

Let's take your example of Lost season 2.

The URL will be http://www.example.de/lost/episoden/season-2 for an overview of the eps of that season and then there will be "Lost Season 2" in a h1 tag right on the page. How do I sprinkle the word "Staffel" on there so I rank well for that, too? Should I put "Lost Staffel 2" in the page's title? Looks awfully inconsistent from a user perspective and that's my main concern.
