Quickest way to test niche viability?

Ok,

Which would offer a faster way to initially tell if a niche could be profitable? Starting a niche blog on Blogger or setting up a subdomain on one of my existing sites?

In the past I have noticed search engine traffic pretty quickly from a blogger hosted blog and I was wondering if a subdomain on a "standalone" albeit somewhat related main domain, would generate traffic at a faster pace.

You won't get traffic to a newly established domain without heavy incoming links. And still you'll need to wait 6-12 months, unless you really have great links.

The quickest test is to buy AdWords I guess.

The guy's niche selection process. search the forums for it. gives you the a-z how to research it. as to quickest ... google search the main keyword. -10 million sites with 8+ advertisers is good.

I have read the niche selection post and had forgotten about that! Thanks for the reminder, I will check it out.

What do you mean by google search the main keyword. -10 million sites with 8+ advertizers?

Do you mean if there are less than 10 million advertizers and 8 or more adwords ads on the right sponsored links?

Chuck:

I think "any" niche can be profitable. The question is what do you want to do to make money?

Is it selling your own product?

Is it acting as an affiliate?

Is it providing free information and making money from Adsense and other advertising clicks?

Not every niche will fall into each of these categories, but just about every niche will fall into one of them.

I think he meant with adsense. And yes, you understood my meaning exactly Chuck. Except it's 10 million sites, not advertisers.
