Altavistsa was one of the pioneers in search engine algorithms. It was on it's way to the top where Google is now a few years ago, but it just suddenly faded away. It's still there though, and it's still a good search engine to get listed in for reaching your target market for your website. The smaller engines are a little bit easier to get higher in the ranks.

Yes, but today MSN, Yahoo and Google sorta "rule"... they became the major serch engines plus they offer an option of seaching only in your area, or only in your language. I do like one nederlandese seach engine, however, www.vinden.nl i find its results to be very comprehensive, especially when it comes to mp3's.

Does anyone uses Altavista anymore?

Yeah, I've also heard that Alta Vista was purchased by yahoo. Alta vista is like Lycos: used to be big, but just ended up fading into oblivion.

Yep, like I said... just faded away... I think you might be right, I think Yahoo might have purchased it a while back... There are still people out there using it.. I've heard of a few webmasters getting a bit of traffic from it.
