Is submitting to directories boost your PR value? I never knew how others get PR 4 or 8 to start with.

Yup. It's considered a very good-quality link and maybe it takes you out of sandbox. I never saw a site at DMOZ with PR lower than 4.

Yes, directories can be good for page rank, but be sure not to submit to many directories that require a reciprocal link.

It's also only good for page rank if your site has been listed in the proper category. Google won't like a baseball site in a category about dogs.

If you have a webmaster related site, you might want to think about adding it to www.webmasterspalace.com/Directory

It costs $5 but your link will stay there forever. It's a PR4 directory aswell!

And it does boost your PR, but I do recommend linking from pages over directories

Oh most definitely directories help. There are many directiories that you may list your site in for free. You can google search free directory sumissions. And you have endless pages of directories that you can list for free. I also have a list of quite a few free directories. If you want any just pm. Because I dont know if it would be appropiate to list them here unless I can get permission to do so from the admin.

Sure you can list them, but don't add the "www." or the "http://" before the site.. this way it does not auto hyperlink.

I also know for sure that directories really help in the past 2 or 3 month since the forum open. We have submitted to quite a few directories and was accepted to most of them. Our PR rank jump from 0 to a high 5. I am still submitting even at this point.

Yes directories do help. Though if you submit it in a directory which has a PR 0. Then what difference does it make? Maybe a little bit of incoming traffic?

Yeah, directory are easy to maintain and they are popular when you get PR. To get started just go to a big forum and post free link submission. You will get at least 20 links.

Yes. If they last long enough. I can start with an option to charge link submissions for nonreciprocal links. And other ideas. A new way of some extra income and revenue.

Might start planning for it soon since I don;t have much on my schedule. But I need to do some research and find scripts first

I would do free link submission first untill you get a Page Rank 1 or higher.. To get page rank just submit you site to other directories out there.

Yes. I was going for at least PR 5. Will take a while but its worth it I guess. Or else who would want to pay to submit it. Although I will have to try to work that out with the php script unless they have the option. Im not that good with them.
