Do you mean to have the same content on both domains? Forwarding the domain would be one thing, but duplicate content will get you slapped with a penalty real quick. I would definitely not do this if that's what you had in mind.

Buying new domains and parking them won't get you anything.

The practice that is popular is that you buy expired domains with some incoming links and redirect them to your site, thus gaining the benefits of incoming linking.

Unless the new domain is something that people type in generally, hoping that you'll get direct type-in traffic, then it's not really worth it.

What I would do though if you plan on buying a new domain is to flesh it out with content and link it to your new site. Create a few of these "satellite" sites, and have them link to your main site. Great way to a) build QUALITY links to your main site and b) get a few other domains in the top SERPs for your keywords. Nothing beats having 3 or 4 of your own sites taking over the top ten spots on a search page.

I can't really see any benifits to this besides the ones already stated here; direct typins, pre-existing traffic, ect... And I really think you probably would get dupe slapped by google if you do that, which was also stated.

I think 007 and voasi have it all covered.
