So I'm curious, how do you really know you are indexed? Is it just a matter of searching for relevent key words that pertain to your site?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Time is not a factor in indexing a site. You may get indexed within hours of your uploading. What matters is the link it has? If you can get a BL of high PR then, you could easily indexed in the Google.

I've never heard of a site getting indexed that fast. For established sites, pages can get indexed within 24 hours.

Yes it is possible, but I believe it'll happen not because of some SEO techniques. It can happen if the site have niche content with rich keywords.

A single backlink (dofollow) on a frequently crawled site, blog, forum would get your site indexed faster.
