What do you think of creating a graphic design tutorial or programming tutorial and submiting in the tutorial directories?
I think it's a good way to start to promote your website.
Interesting idea. The only downside I can see is that it has to be something that really hits your niche otherwise it's not very effective. In my opinion the best way to increase traffic is to focus on the core of your site itself. If your site is buzzing and your content is good then people will find out about it and stick with it.
