Hello members

Actually I’m not expert in SEO business, not eve a newbie. But I’m starting to believe that site content is not important at all in search engine ranking. Earlier I checked the PR of the domain example.com and I turn out that it has PR8. That domain only has 2 line warning or notice. Its back links are totally irrelevant. Only thing it has is lots of back links. Another example would be the keyword “miserable failure” pointing to the president’s page on white house’s website.

I submitted one of my site to FFA sites during that period of 4 months my site has PR5, after reading some place that submitting to FFA links pages hurt the search engine ranking I stopped doing that and my PR dropped to 4 and my SERPs results also dropped too.

IMO any kind of links relevant or irrelevant will get you results.

Thanks

Results, maybe, good ones, no. Irrelevant links will not help you in the long run. It can get your site blocked as spam. If you want to rank for a competitive term and you think that you can do it with free for all sites, link exchanges, and guest book signatures you will be wasting your time. You need quality links from quality sites to rank for terms.

Just because a site has pagerank doesn't mean anything other than they have a lot of links. Pagerank doesn't equate to traffic. The white house site is an example of how the right links do work. People putting the proper anchor text in links to the same website (for a non-competitive term).

On-site optimization lets you make the most of whatever inbound links you have.

On-site optimization is the first half of SEO. It doesn't get you anywhere alone -- but you also won't get anywhere without it.

True that. Site optimization such as unique and updated content is the first step in SEO. Without that getting backlinks won't do you good in the long run.

imo, the anchor text and number of backlinks are by far the #1 factors in getting high serps for your keywords.

I'm inclined to agree but traffic =/= profit. Even if you rank #1 for your top 5 keywords, if your content doesn't interest or inform your visitors, you're still screwed. You have to give people a good reason to give you those backlinks unless you plan to buy all of them.

The other thing to remember about good content is that it makes it easier to get links. No one wants to link to a site with terrible content. That's what linkbait is all about, creating content that people want to link to.
