Does any member here have the SEO Book by Aaron Wall?

http://www.seobook.com/
  • Is it worth the $79 price tag?
  • Are there better books on SEO around?
Cheers,

If you're new to SEO, then it's an excellent collection of information on the topic and well worth the $79.

I think its good even if you think you already know everything there is to know about SEO and well worth the price tag.

Its a nice vial of knowledge (is that even an expression?) and I really enjoyed reading it.

You're sure to pickup something from reading it.

I don't have one. But my friend told me that is worth the price. It is very helpful especially when you are just starting.

The author maintains the book pretty well. I own it, have not read the whole thing through, but the parts I have read look like very good, vanilla white hat seo instructions. All of it collected in one place is certainly better than trolling forums, where you find your questions already half answered and asking again just makes it more confusing. I stopped posting and reading at webmasterworld because there was too much contradictory information (not to mention the ridiculous length of the threads).

there's a publication over SEOmoz called the beginners guide (im not allowed to post links - someone might want to follow along after me and post the link) that is much less detailed but pretty good, does a good job of showing you what info you can drill down further with

I definitely recommend it and have bought it myself. I printed it out also, because I prefer reading paper than screens, and it's formatted fine for that, if that's an issue. Incidentally, if you could buy it through my affiliate link, it'd be much appreciated (PM me for link). Even if you don't though, it's an excellent read. At some points I was annoyed with myself for having waited for so long. The things it took me a year to learn from reading and practicing SEO are there in the book. The thing is that you may not realize when he's sharing a real secret if you haven't practiced/read yourself.
Hopefully I'll have some pics of my printed book that I can show you.

Regarding whether there are other books, I believe I ran into the search marketer's handbook or some similar name by another SEM expert. However from what I've heard that book is more general and also more balanced with more time given to consider PPC. The person who wrote the book also used to edit an ezine, which I particularly remember for some great tips on "blackhat SEM" by Mikkel DeMib.

Yet another book is Andrew Goodman's book on Google Adwords. His partner at Page Zero wrote one on YSM. You can reach Andrew at the SEW forums.

Again, I loved the SEOBook, and you'll save a lot of time off your learning curve by buying it now. Consider it an investment.

I won't buy it but that's only because he has a blog with most of the same info. I figure anything he posts publicly to stand up to industry wide scrutiny has got to be on point and I learned a lot there, especially from his post about how he helped shoemoney. That post is the reason one of my content sites is no longer in supplemental hell and the revenue is increasing every single day now.

I'm not an eBook kinda guy but if he didn't have a blog and I didn't have years of experience in this biz I'd buy it.

a) you're never going to just sit and read through his whole arhives
b) even if you did, the information in the book isn't all on the blog.
c) stuff you'll read on forums (not you george, but someone else's post) is often wrong or outdated or both. or matt cutts paraphrased, which isn't much better.
d) besides which, the book comes with certain bonuses.

ok if your gunna get it and read it and not act apon the info in the book you are waisting your time. Alot of people did this.

on the other hand if you read and act apon the great info your getting then its well worth the investment in opinion.

by the way its a great read and the info is hard core quality.

hope this helps.

Its worth it, its a nice base to build off of and you get a well rounded look at everything so you understand the awesome value of little tidbits you find on forums or to develop your own tests...

My company paid for this book so I didn't have to make an investment as such.

I would consider myself an intermediate SEO, and I agree that most of the content can be found via forums, blogs and online articles, but at $80 I guess the investment depends on how much you value your time.
