Almost every SE under the sun gives you the option to search for images on the web. As a webmaster, this can be a blessing and a curse.
First of all, it is a curse when it comes to people stealing your image content. But then, who are we to throw the first stone?
Then comes the quality of traffic angle. Normally, people looking for an image on the web are looking only for the image and won’t spend any more time on your site.
The fact that your site is most often displayed in a frame below a top “navigation” frame that gives the surfer all the options he needs to display your image in full size doesn’t help. Using that frame, the user does not even have to interact with your site at all.
On the other hand, having your site display prominently in the image searches can give you some nice traffic

You can also deal with people hotlinking your images by using some mod_rewrite to steal their traffic:

Depends on the nature of the site. I have a tourism site and people tend to use my images in discussion forums and profile. When I get a lot of referrals for a particular image, I add a logo and website address to it. It's a bit like free advertising.

No, was referring to Marketraise's post. He is posting other people's material all over these forums and tons of other webmaster forums and signing it himself, giving no credit to the original writer.

Lol, that's sounds a bit like fishing

People see your images and use them on their site as they are good. They hotlink them and not copy and upload them to their own server. Once you have got enough people that has taken your images or the bait you then modify the image on your server and the hotlinked image on their sites that is yours will also be updated with your modified image.

So you could either include a sig line and a logo or you could just have big writing saying something like "to see this image go to mysitename.com" and then you could just change the path of your orignal image so that you are still showing the correct image on your site, but all your hotlinkers are showing the modified image telling them to go to your site to see the proper image.

I have not personally done this mind you.
