Uhh.. ok. Yes, you need good links, but that doesn't account to your search engine listing. That merely helps your PR and such, but Google crawls your site just as fast as another if you submit it.

Adding unique content on the site is one way of doing it. But most important thing to rank well in Google is getting maximum backlinks. Google has always given importance to backlinks.

Yeah links matters the most to Google unlike other SE's and quality and quantity both counts for links if you are looking for good SERP's.

Good quality content benefits if its unique. Links can be obtained from article sites who use and distribute your content with links embeded.

I agree high quality backlinks, unique content (obviously), and update your site with new pages on a daily basis! So they have a reason to spider frequently.
