I wrote an article that happened to turn out to have current interest - I noticed some searches coming for the article title checking google I was ranked #54.
So I re-wrote the page adding the keyword more often and got to #2 in yahoo and number #21 in Google. Interesting.
This brought a nice increase in traffic, but I wanted to get on the 2nd page og Google so I went and 'optimised' a little more but it seems I did it too much as the article is no longer in the Google or Yahoo indexes (or further down than 500).
Also my organic search traffic levels have dropped significantly in the last few days since this happened.
Would I get a site wide penalty for this (I have about 700 pages so 1 over optimisation seems a little harsh)
I am still quiet new to SEO and probably pushed it too far, but I like to experiment and see how things work.
My question is what other penalties can I expect and how long will they last for?
(I know I have to included a re-inclusion request;-
