How long do you think it takes to rank for a un-competitive keywords?

Less than 1 week in my experience.

Also depends on what you mean by "rank".

2nd page 1st page top 5 etc?

Definitely a week. 2 Max.

I find with just forum signatures you can be in the serps within 1 to 2 days and if you have good on page SEO as well you can make the top 10 to even the top 5 for keywords with little to no competition.

Yeah for keywords where there is really no competition, it's really a question of how quickly you can get indexed.

Took me about three weeks for #1 for "Unique Myspace Graphics" which is pretty un-competitive. Too bad very few people search for it :/ ...

when we are saying uncompetitive, what are we talking about? a term that gets searched 100 times a day of google? 200 times a day? 500? 1000?

It depends on what your doing. I can normally get a page ranked in un competitive terms within a few days. It just depends on how fast the site you are using is spidered and reindexed, etc.

The long tail brings in 90% of my traffic. New threads on my forum show up within a day or 3 for various combinations of keywords in the thread title.
