How do I optimize my photo's for google picture search?

I would like each photo on it's own html. Php would make things easier for setting up, but can a .php be otpimized as well as the .html when it comes to pictures?

How should I go about this?

Thanks

You don't have to make each photo its own html. You just need to optimize the images like keywordhere.gif

Hey thanks,

But surely there must be more to send my pics to the top. Something that might give me a little preference over the billions of photos out there already.

My site has a pr2 so far, but hardly enough. I haven't seen any of my pics on google after searching using the keyword.jpg in the search.

Thus html page for each pic or if php is seo friendly, that would make it alot easier on me.

Thanks

Alt tags, filenames, making sure your robots.txt isn't blocking access to your image folders...

Keywords around the images on the page seems to help as well in image searches I've done.

Thanks!

Right now I am playing with this setup as at Boothill_gift_shop

I have a page generator to take my keyword list (picture files) and generate this type of page.

What about hyphen vs underscore or spaces. I pretty much can't use the spaces as the photos will have probs when I put them on the server.

I have been told to use php (because my top menu is frame) so I can make major changes easily. But will PHP be as search engine friendly? I can see the advantage of PHP for ease of change, but is not html more search engine friendly?

I have been to google and yahoo, submitting my sites, but see no real differences at this time.

PHP is SEF because it becomes HTML once it hits the screen.

PHP doesn't matter as the search engines will see the page as HTML and not read any PHP code.

From what I've read here and elsewhere you can control which images show up higher on Google's photo search by:
1. Having a high PR site
2. Filename of the image should be keyword
3. Use the keywords in meta tag associated with the image
4. Use the keyword in header tags on the page containing the image

alt tags and what you actually name the image make the most difference.

Use a keyword filename is the most important

It's already been mentioned several times but use a keyworded filename. I always split the words up with hyphens.

So I would use social-marketing-ebook.gif rather than socialmarketingebook.gif

Like someone already said, you don't need a separate HTML page for each image. Just remember that some of the same rules apply when linking to an image as linking to a web page.

You ideally want to link to the image on keyword related pages.
