I'm wondering if there's a list of web directories to submit my website to.. just a good "directory" with tons of listing of directories...

There's a bunch of directories on Add URL.nu : Add your URL to free SEO friendly directories.

I also know a few softwares that helps in the painful process of submitting links to said directories:
1) Internet Marketing Wish List | Directory Submitter » Directory Submitter
2) Submit Suite (never tried that one, a friend recommended it to me)

Both have a trial or a free version. The first one works great but some links are either dead or mislabeled (free when they're not, for example).

You might wanna start there.

EDIT:
I made a list of directories owned by members. It's a sticky in the "Promotions & Advertising" section.

Url.nu is one of the best ones. but it is also best as you submit to create your own list.

I agree with this, but I also found the layout of directory submitter to be pretty straightforward, even if there were some errors.

The Directory submitter I use all the time is digiXMAS its free and it works great. If you are looking for the largest directory lists here it is:
