Sorry - I've never understood the distinction between these two concepts on the web? Considering that SEO types are obsessed with backlinkz which are "optimization" I was hoping somebody could point out the difference, the reason back is used exclusively, and the reason these are both different from just links?

I always thought they were opposed to "Front Links".

Forward links are very important than with backlinks in order to increase your site navigation.

Back links are more important mthen forward links. But from link farms it doesnt get any sense. The same is true for forward links also. Many sites make link exchnage with a script and it is not from the main page instead something from links directory and there is just links but nothing else to gain backlinks... I think those kind of link exchange is not getting any help but some harm maybe.

OK... So forward links is the other term for outbound links (OBL); while back links are the other term for Inbound Links (IBL).

Are you sure about that? From what I read, forward links seems to be the links on your site that points to other websites.
