Agreed. In this case (for one page), it's going to be a waste of time. You'll be far better off making sure that the Web page is linked to from another page, whether on your own site or another site, and then going from there.
What I normally do is determine what the overall structure of my Web site is going to be before I even write a single word or line of code, then organize my content along those lines. For established sites, I look at where the new page would be best off being placed (if, for example I have a page on a book reviews site that reviews the book "Greek Fire, Poison Arrows and Scorpion Bombs" by Adrienne Meyer, I'm not going to want to place it in a directory about reviews of the US Civil War). I'll then put a summary of the page on the site's home page as well as the landing page for that specific directory (in this case, ancient history). I might even go so far as to promote the new review article on some literary sites, but the circumstances regarding that kind of promotion would vary with each site.
Yes, it's probably an overly basic sumamry (if not outright overkill), but hopefully it gets my point across, despite being nearly 4:30 in the morning here...
