Having only purchased my website in Feb 08 the changes I have made in my opinion have be fantastic, when I first took the site on it was a PR1, just 3 months later it is now a PR3. The sites main search term was video ripping script as the sites domain is vidripscript and although I kept the domain I added a slogan 'Video Ripping At Its Best' now in those few months my site has moved up through google (i'm not sure exactly how far) and when I search video ripping my site shows up on page 1 - I admit it is the last one on the page but page 1 for quite a generic term I personally think that is great.
I have achieved this by using digixmas which is a semi automatic directory submit tool, added my url to my signature lines within the forums re wrote the initial description of the website as well as the template and changed the meta tags to suit. I also wrote an article and submitted it, could be time for another one on the SEO success 
This isn't the end either, this has taken quite a lot of hard work constantly thinking how can I improve and my aim to to get the site to the 3rd or 4th link in google on the 1st page which in my opinion are the ones which are used the most. I like to think that with my particular website there is an element of word of mouth as I provide users a free service which everyone can benefit from which is helping to gain more visitors. As well as reaching higher in google I continue to make the forum side a success, not only will I be providing a service to the users I want to build a community which they can enjoy.
I'm not the greatest at SEO but I continued to work at it, I've had a few websites before which died very early partly because I never put enough effort into them and got bord as I saw no traffic, but when I purchased a website I was determined to make it work. |
