Hello.
I know we can't easily compare the free SMF to the $160 vBulletin. As it was nicely put here by Isaac

SMF is the best free option, and vBulletin is the best paid option. It's not fair to compare, because they are on two different playing fields.
I understand each has some features that the other does not and thus it is not easy to compare them by features.

my question is about comparing smf to vb, ONLY SEO-Wise...

which do you in your experience have good reasons to believe is better.

I'd explain where my question comes from.

I have a very active community on www.forumislam.com/f/ using smf2.0

Google PR and indexing of this board are however very disappointing. For example, only about 11,000 pages of forumislam.com are in Google index. There are at least 300,000 posts on the forums alone, let alone the 4images gallery and the many thousands of files in the audio library.

I have had a look at this
http://www.forummatrix.org/compare/b...+SMF+vBulletin

It does not answer my question about comparing vbulletin to smf SEO-Wise.

so, SEO-wise, and only SEO-wise, do you have some very good reasons to believe vbulletin gives a big advantage to get better indexing by Google?

I started researching forum software about 3 years ago and I must of come across a dozen blog and forum posts talking about how bad SMF is for SEO. It's really not hard to find someone talking about how bad SMF is. I haven't used either but I'm sure vBulletin is much better based on my research, especially with their seo mod installed.

I use phpbb3 with the phpbb seo premod. That makes my phpbb3 forums far superior to vBulletin and certainly SMF - SEO wise.
