What up everyone one, had a few questions about SEO

I have a gaming site thats launching in a few weeks.

What kinds of things/tips/software is good for getting the best indexing results with search engines?

A few things i herd wer that your url links for every section on your site, how they are displayed can have an impact. For example you want your URL's to look like (FOR EXAMPLE!)

ww.gamecool.com/xbox360/games

rather then

ww.gamecool.com/platform6/3334.php

In this example hopefully you get what im saying, and how important is this, is this something hat can be done from a programming stand point, or is there SEO software out there to buy thats does it for you and just works really good, perhaps has more features that could solve the next few questions i have

Different sections having meta tags? i herd something about this that helps for SEO as well?

The text on your website should be relevant because google and other SE pick TEXT up? - Any tips with this? for example if i had a gaming site and had the words "Tournaments are cool" would it be in my best interest from a SEO stand point to have that say "XBOX 360 Tournaments?"

thats not a very good example but i hope you get what i mean

Also i herd something that the more links you have to your webpage that are on other websites has a BIG impact on index results?

Also is there anything else I should know about SEO and a website that could help? thanks for reading and looking forward to any feed back i can get!

Nope, It can have a small effect on some sites but it. Read the forums we have discussed it so many times.

Read HighRankings Tips for Newbies for the rest.

The MOST IMPORTANT THING; ...

is to build your site for USERS not search engines.

Hmm, this MIGHT be true but I think a nicer looking URL helps increase a 'click-through' rate, and helps the users KNOW where they are at.

For example...look up. Look at the URL for this website has a folder 'seo-talk-forum' and then words from the title of this thread. I think they think it's somewhat important. Also, check out amazon.com or even apple.com both will show you that good URL are used.

Aside from this, I've been researching 'what is seo' and 'how to do seo' for a while and I'd strongly suggest just spending an hour a day on SEOmoz. They are honest and have blogs with other people stating their opinions about SEO. Their are no industry guidelines but I think watching what the experts are saying is half the battle.

Good luck with increasing your search rank.

I suggest you use www.gamecool.com/xbox360/games as url pattern, it will be more SEO friendly than the other one.

Hmm. I'd go another mile. www.gamecool.com/xbox-360/games

The reason why I don't say 'x-box-360' is because most people just type in xbox as ONE WORD. So it would help with being more relevant. Have fun deciding.
